Shenhua Printing Plate Knife Pad: The Key to Enhancing the Yield of Flat Pressing and Flat Die-cutting Products
Flat pressing and flat die-cutting is the most widely used die-cutting process in the domestic printing and packaging industry. It covers most printing categories such as exquisite gift boxes, tobacco and alcohol packaging, color boxes, labels, etc., and is the core production process of printing factories. However, in actual production, problems such as wire breakage, burrs, insufficient cutting, local indentation deformation, and surface scratching are always the core pain points that trouble printing factories. These problems not only lead to a high waste rate but also delay order delivery and cause damage to the knife molds and equipment. After 22 years of deep research in die-cutting consumables, Shenhua Printing Materials has discovered that over 90% of the common defects in flat pressing and flat die-cutting are caused by improper selection and substandard performance of the knife plate spring pads. As the only core consumable that synchronizes with the knife plate and substrate in flat pressing and flat die-cutting, the performance of the knife plate spring pad directly determines the upper limit of die-cutting yield.
Traditional flat pressing and flat die-cutting uses general-purpose knife plate spring pads, which have three difficult-to-solve industry pain points. First, the anti-compression permanent deformation performance is poor. In flat pressing and flat die-cutting, which is intermittent face contact and compression, under high-frequency and strong impact, ordinary rubber spring pads will collapse and lose elasticity within just 1-2 days, resulting in uneven die-cutting pressure, inconsistent cutting effects in the early and later stages, and problems of insufficient cutting and insufficient penetration. Frequent shutdowns and replacements are required, which seriously affects production efficiency. Second, the hardness and thickness uniformity is poor. The production process of general spring pads is rough, with a hardness deviation of more than ±5 Shore A between batches and a thickness tolerance of more than ±0.1mm. During the compression, the entire surface is not evenly stressed, resulting in insufficient pressure in thin areas and excessive pressure in thick areas, causing paper to burst and damaging the surface layer. Third, the adaptability is poor. A general spring pad can fit all substrates, but thin paper is prone to burst, thick paper is difficult to cut through, and special materials are prone to scratching. It completely fails to meet the diversified production needs.
To address the core pain points of flat pressing and flat die-cutting, Shenhua Printing Materials has created an exclusive matrix of flat pressing and flat die-cutting-specific knife plate spring pad products, achieving comprehensive breakthroughs in three dimensions: formulation, process, and quality control. This solves die-cutting defects at the root and helps printing factories achieve a leap in yield rate. In terms of substrate formulation, Shenhua Printing Materials uses high-density polyurethane composite substrates. By optimizing the molecular cross-linking structure, the permanent deformation rate of the spring pad under compression is controlled within 3%, and it maintains stable rebound performance for 500,000 continuous die-cutting operations, with a service life more than three times that of ordinary rubber spring pads. This significantly reduces the frequency of shutdowns and replacements, avoiding problems of inconsistent effects in the early and later stages of long-term production.
In terms of process and precision control, Shenhua Printing Materials introduces a complete set of precision CNC grinding and cutting production line, controlling the thickness tolerance of the spring pad across the entire width within ±0.03mm, and the hardness deviation within ±2 Shore A, ensuring uniform and consistent stress distribution across the entire surface during compression. This solves problems of local insufficient cutting and burst, and ensures that the knife plate can fully penetrate the cutting. At the same time, Shenhua Printing Materials has established a product system covering hardness ranges from 25 to 70 Shore A, achieving precise matching for different substrates: for 80-250g thin paper and art paper, 30-40 Shore A low-hardness flexible spring pads are selected to avoid burst and fiber tearing; for 250-400g thick cardstock and exquisite gift boxes, 40-50 Shore A balanced spring pads are selected to balance cutting effect and paper protection; for 3-7 layers of corrugated paper, 50-70 Shore A high-hardness impact-resistant spring pads are selected to provide sufficient reverse support force and ensure complete penetration cutting. More importantly, Shenhua Printing Materials has broken away from the traditional model of merely selling consumables, and has provided customers with a full-process process adaptation service for flat-press flat-cutting: based on the customer's equipment model, commonly used substrates, and order type, it offers one-on-one cushion selection plans, free on-site debugging, operator training, and helps customers optimize the layout of knife plate cushions and cutting pressure parameters, completely solving the cutting defects from the process end.
