A Single Article Explains the Selection Techniques for Knife Plate Spring Sleeves and Indentation Lines, Avoiding Production Loss Traps

During the die-cutting production process, many enterprises often encounter such problems: the cushion pads age easily, there are broken edges, the indentations are not straight, and the lines burst, and even though they frequently replace consumables, they still cannot improve the yield rate, indirectly causing a large amount of production capacity and cost loss. According to industry data statistics, over 35% of the quality problems of cartons are caused by improper indenting processes, and about 60% of the die-cut defective products have their roots in the inappropriate selection of die pad materials [3][5]. As a professional die mold material manufacturer, we, based on years of industry experience and practical cases, elaborate on the selection techniques of die pad and indent lines, helping enterprises avoid loss traps and achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

The selection of die pad is mainly based on "matching the scene and matching the accuracy". First, look at the material selection: for regular corrugated cardboard and ordinary cardstock die-cutting, high rubber content EVA material pads can be selected, which have high cost performance and can meet the basic rebound and cutting resistance requirements; for high-end gift boxes, electronic accessories, etc., which have higher precision requirements, it is recommended to use polyurethane material pads, which have higher rebound rate and stronger wear resistance, can effectively reduce white edges and rough edges problems, and at the same time reduce blade wear [1][5]; for special production environments such as high temperature and anti-static, we can provide custom pads that are compatible with laser die molds, etching die molds and other equipment, meeting personalized production needs [1][5]. Secondly, look at the specification selection: our pads cover dozens of regular specifications, from 30*7*7MM small size, to 1000*1000*12MM large size, to 1*8*500MM to 3*16*500MM gap strips, which can directly adapt to the weekly usage of small factories and the batch production requirements of large enterprises, and at the same time support customization, with the minimum order quantity of only 1 piece, supporting one-off sample production, and 48 hours of delivery, meeting urgent order needs [1].

The selection of the indentation line is crucial and hinges on "matching the material and precise calculation". For different thicknesses and materials of the sheet, the corresponding indentation line specifications are completely different. They can be accurately calculated using the core formula: the width of the indentation line for ordinary cardstock = paper thickness × 1.5 + die-cut steel wire thickness; the width of the indentation line for corrugated paper = corrugated paper flattening thickness × 2.0 + die-cut steel wire thickness [3]. For example, when using 0.45mm cardstock with 0.71mm steel wire, the corresponding indentation line width is 1.30mm, and the 0.4×1.3mm specification product can be directly selected [3]. At the same time, the selection should be refined according to the application scenario: for high-end packaging (cosmetics boxes, gift boxes), PVC indentation lines are recommended, as they are smooth and free of burrs, avoiding indentation cracking; for corrugated boxes, double-line indentation lines are suitable, providing wider and easier-to-fold indentations; for short-run jobs, economic fiber base die-cut indentation lines can be selected, balancing cost and effect [3]. In addition, the quality of the indentation line can be identified following the four-step method: compare width and height (error controlled within 2%); identify material (base mold width, full wrapping of tape); recognize raw materials (guaranteed by dedicated tape production line); recognize brand (prioritize manufacturers with R&D capabilities) [3].

Correct selection is only the first step. High-quality product quality is the core guarantee for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Our knife plate spring pads and indentation lines undergo strict inspections at every stage, from raw material selection to production processing, to ensure uniform material, precise specifications, and stable performance. At the same time, we have a professional technical team that can provide one-on-one selection guidance based on the customer's production equipment, processing materials, and product requirements, helping customers select the right products and use them properly, thereby reducing production losses and improving production efficiency from the root cause.
