Troubleshooting and maintenance Tips for common faults of knife plate spring pads

I. Common Faults and Cause Analysis

The spring pad of the die-cutting plate is prone to faults such as wear, deformation and elastic loss during long-term use, which directly affects the die-cutting quality and production efficiency. The following is a detailed analysis of the causes of the three common faults:

Fault 1: The local wear of the spring pad is severe, with depressions and cracks appearing. The main causes include: uneven die-cutting pressure, resulting in excessive local force; The edge of the knife plate is sharp, and it has been rubbing against the same position of the elastic pad for a long time. The material of the elastic pad has insufficient wear resistance and is not suitable for high-speed continuous die-cutting. Foreign objects (such as paper scraps and metal shavings) mixed in during die-cutting accelerate local wear. Such faults can lead to insufficient local pressure during die-cutting, resulting in incomplete die-cutting and cardboard adhesion and other problems.

Fault 2: The elasticity of the elastic pad has declined, and it cannot quickly rebound after compression. The core cause is that the elastic pad has been exposed to high pressure and high temperature for a long time, leading to material aging and changes in molecular structure. Secondly, the selection of the elastic pads is inappropriate. For instance, low-hardness elastic pads are used for high-pressure die-cutting, and long-term excessive compression leads to elastic fatigue. In addition, if the cleaning is not thorough, the oil stains and paper scraps remaining on the surface of the elastic pad will accelerate the aging of the material and reduce its elastic recovery ability. Elastic attenuation will cause the cardboard to fail to be smoothly separated from the die-cutting plate after die-cutting, affecting production efficiency.

Fault 3: Deformation and dimensional deviation of the spring pad. Mainly due to improper storage, such as the elastic pad being in a folded or compressed state for a long time, permanent deformation occurs. Or the die-cutting temperature is too high, exceeding the temperature limit that the elastic pad can withstand, causing thermal deformation; In addition, if the spring pad does not fit tightly with the knife plate during installation and is subjected to uneven force over a long period of time, it can also cause local deformation. The deformed elastic pad will cause an imbalance in the force during die-cutting, resulting in problems such as decreased die-cutting accuracy and irregular indentations on the cardboard.

Ii. Troubleshooting and Solution Methods

For local wear faults, it is necessary to first check the die-cutting pressure distribution and adjust the equipment parameters to ensure that the pressure is evenly applied to the surface of the elastic pad. Secondly, sharpen the edges of the knife plate to prevent the sharp edges from directly rubbing against the elastic pad. If the wear is severe, high-density and highly wear-resistant elastic pads should be replaced in time, and the die-cutting area should be cleaned regularly to prevent foreign objects from mixing in. For minor wear and tear, local repair agents can be used to fill the pits and temporarily resume use. However, new spring washers should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid affecting the die-cutting quality.

When the elasticity of the elastic pad deteriorates, the first step is to check whether the die-cutting temperature and pressure exceed the standard, reduce the operating speed of the equipment, and minimize the generation of high temperatures. If the elastic pad has aged, it needs to be replaced immediately. It is preferred to choose PU elastic pads that are heat-resistant and anti-aging. In daily use, you can regularly apply a special maintenance agent to the surface of the elastic pad to delay material aging and enhance its elasticity retention capacity. In addition, the installation position of the elastic pad needs to be adjusted to avoid long-term local stress and extend the elastic life.

For the problem of deformation of the spring pad, if it is slightly deformed due to improper storage, the spring pad can be laid flat and evenly pressed with a heavy object for 24 hours to try to restore its shape. If the deformation is severe or due to thermal deformation, a new spring pad needs to be replaced. At the same time, optimize the storage environment. Place the spring pad in a dry, well-ventilated and normal temperature area, avoiding folding, squeezing or being close to high-temperature equipment. When installing, ensure that the spring pad is completely in contact with the knife plate. Adjust the die-cutting pressure to avoid uneven force distribution.

Iii. Daily Maintenance and Life Extension Tips

Daily maintenance should follow the three-step method of "cleaning, inspection and care". In terms of cleaning, after each day's production, use a soft-bristled brush to remove paper scraps and dust from the surface of the elastic pad, then wipe it with a neutral cleaner to remove oil stains. After drying, store it to avoid residual impurities accelerating wear. In terms of inspection, regularly check the wear degree, elastic condition and dimensional deviation of the elastic pads every week. Deal with minor faults in a timely manner to prevent small problems from escalating. In terms of maintenance, apply a dedicated maintenance agent once a month to enhance the wear resistance and anti-aging properties of the elastic pad and extend its service life.

In addition, reasonable control of die-cutting parameters is the key to extending the service life of the elastic pad. According to the die-cutting material and the type of knife plate, adjust the appropriate pressure and speed to avoid excessive wear of the spring pad caused by high pressure and high speed operation. At the same time, regularly inspect the condition of the knife plate, and replace the worn or chipped knife plates in a timely manner to reduce the friction damage to the spring pad. When replacing the elastic pad, it is necessary to choose a product that matches the original model to avoid frequent malfunctions caused by improper selection.
