Analysis of Common Types and Material Characteristics of knife plate Spring Pads

According to the differences in material, structure and application scenarios, knife plate spring pads can be classified into various types. Different types of spring pads have their own focuses in characteristics and are suitable for different processing requirements. At present, the mainstream materials for knife plate spring pads in the market are mainly rubber and polyurethane. Meanwhile, there are also a small number of special material spring pads used in special process scenarios.

From the perspective of material classification, the first type is natural rubber elastic pads. Natural rubber has excellent elasticity and resilience, with a fast deformation recovery speed. It is suitable for medium and light die-cutting operations with high requirements for the elasticity of elastic pads, such as die-cutting of thin cardstock and paper. Its advantages are high cost performance and good flexibility. However, its disadvantages are relatively weak wear resistance and aging resistance. It is prone to cracking and hardening when used for a long time in high-temperature or harsh environments, and has a shorter service life. It is more suitable for processing scenarios with small batch sizes and simple processes.

The second type is the polyurethane elastic pad, which is one of the most widely used types at present. Polyurethane materials feature excellent elasticity and wear resistance, with A wide hardness range (Shore A 30-90 degrees selectable). The appropriate hardness can be selected based on different die-cutting materials and pressure requirements. Compared with natural rubber, polyurethane elastic pads have better aging resistance, oil resistance and temperature resistance, and a longer service life. They are suitable for large-scale and high-intensity die-cutting operations, such as die-cutting of corrugated boxes, heavy-duty cardboard, leather, plastic films and other materials. According to different production processes, polyurethane spring pads can be further classified into cast type and molded type. Cast type spring pads have more stable performance and higher dimensional accuracy, while molded type spring pads are more suitable for standardized batch production and have relatively lower costs.

In addition, there are special material spring pads, such as silicone spring pads and nitrile rubber spring pads, etc. Silicone rubber elastic pads have excellent high-temperature resistance (able to withstand temperatures above 200℃), making them suitable for hot die-cutting processes or processing in high-temperature environments. Nitrile rubber elastic pads have excellent oil resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and are suitable for scenarios where they may come into contact with oil stains or chemical reagents during processing. In addition to the material, the knife plate spring pads can also be classified by structure into strip-shaped, block-shaped, ring-shaped, etc. Strip-shaped spring pads are convenient for installation along the edge of the knife plate, block-shaped spring pads are suitable for local pressure compensation, and ring-shaped spring pads are often used as an auxiliary for circular die-cutting knives.
