The basic definition and core functions of the knife plate spring pad

Die-cutting, creasing and other printing packaging and paper product processing techniques are indispensable auxiliary accessories. They are usually made of elastic materials such as rubber and polyurethane and are installed at specific positions on the die-cutting plate, working in coordination with the die-cutting knife and creasing line. Its core function is to solve a series of process pain points in die-cutting through its own elastic deformation, ensuring processing quality and efficiency.

In die-cutting operations, the primary function of the knife plate spring pad is to achieve uniform pressure transmission. Due to the possible slight differences in the thickness of the processed material and the difficulty in achieving an absolutely ideal flatness of the die-cutting plate itself, the elasticity of the spring pad can buffer and compensate for the pressure, ensuring that the die-cutting knife is evenly stressed throughout the entire blade length and avoiding situations where local die-cutting is not through or excessive indentation occur. Secondly, the elastic pad has the function of assisting in waste removal. After die-cutting is completed, the waste and the finished product often adhere closely to the die plate due to tension or adsorption force. The thrust generated by the springback pad can lift the waste, facilitating the subsequent waste removal process and reducing the probability of material jamming and machine shutdown.

In addition, the spring pad of the die-cutting knife can also provide protection for the die-cutting knife. If the impact force at the moment of die-cutting directly acts on the cutting edge, long-term use is likely to cause wear and chipping of the cutting edge. Spring pads can absorb part of the impact force, reduce the wear of the cutting edge, and extend the service life of the cutting plate. Meanwhile, for the creasing process, the elastic pad can assist in fixing the material, prevent it from shifting during the creasing process, ensure the clarity and regularity of the creasing lines, and enhance the appearance quality and forming effect of the product. Elastic pads of different materials and hardness have varying properties such as elasticity, wear resistance, and temperature resistance, which can be adapted to different processing materials (such as corrugated paper, cardboard, film, leather, etc.) and process requirements.
